Straight from the Fairyland created by Johnny Gruelle in his delightful Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy stories.....comes ~ "Frederika The Dutch Doll ~ An enchanting, sweet natured little doll, who once upon a time had a voice box that cried "Mama" when someone squeezed her gently.....Just one of the many Raggedy Character Dolls that I enjoy creating!...WHY NOT COLLECT THEM ALL???Have Questions?? Gruelle's character Frederika the Dutch Doll, was mentioned in several
of his books, however, she is most prominent in
"Raggedy Ann and the Laughing Brook",

(one of the six "Westfield Classics".)

This adorable little Dutch character doll once had a voice box
that cried "Mama" when someone squeezed her gently,
but the squeeze was almost worn out, so she very rarely spoke anymore.
Frederika always joined in the fun and excitement with
Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy, and all the other dolls in the nursery,
while all the real-for-sure people were away from home or fast aleep!

Her brother Henny is a very well-known Gruelle character,
and creating them together as "twins" makes them
just that more loveable and appealing!
Although Gruelle never commissioned a doll for this character.......
I felt she must be preserved as a loveable huggable doll
to be added to every Raggedy collection!!

Frederika comes dressed in her native "Dutch" attire...
a beautiful full red skirt with attached black velour bib.
Delicate red zig-zag stitch, out-lines the straps and bodice;
Her puffy-sleeved blouse and pantaloons are made from gorgeous white eyelet fabric;
her crisp white "Dutch" hat and apron are trimmed with matching eyelet;
Hand-painted Holland tulips add the finishing touch to her outfit and match the cute little yellow "Dutch" shoes.
She is made of muslin with stuffed little ears and nose, pretty blue button eyes!
With a blonde "Dutch-cut" hairstyle;
Her facial features are hand-embroidered.
To see her is to love her...and she and her brother Henny are my most sought after Raggedy character dolls.
Each of my dolls, take on a personality of their own as I add the finishing touches......
therefore, each will add that one-of-a-kind distinction to your collection!
